CA Photography | Habilitat Art Show Oahu, HI

Well I wish it was me that is off to Hawaii for either a vacation or for a gig. Instead (2) prints have been sent to Kaneohe, Hawaii on Oahu in the hopes of raising money for the 8th Annual Habilitat Art Show and Luau Benefit.

This is the 4th year that Jay Watson Photography has participated. Each year I have donated two prints to the event, and so far everything has been sold. Habilitat is a long term residential drug addiction treatment center on the island of Oahu. Four years ago a worker and former resident called to personally ask me to contribute to the luau. He felt my work would be of strong interest to many of the young people and their families who come to the center. This year my wife Jamie Welsh Watson is donating two of her surfing themed monotype prints. We are very impressed with the positive message and spirit of each person we have talked to at Habilitat. They were excited to receive our work and extremely thankful for contributing. Everyone deserves a second chance, and it is spiritually rewarding to see California photography (and monotypes) helping to raise money and aloha in Hawaii. We have been invited to visit the center, and hope to one day share our work with the residents and “talk story” with them.

As these two prints are auctioned off this weekend, I hope they fetch high bids and also wish them well at their new homes.
